
Brian Sharpee has been a teacher in the San Diego Unified School District since 2009 and has been at the Met since 2017. He has taught every level of secondary math, as well as earth science, physics, and chemistry. This academic year, Brian is teaching physics and is an advisor to a cohort of students from the Class of 2029. Brian earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and a Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics from Michigan State University. Prior to joining the district, Brian worked as an astronomer, studying variable stars, planetary nebulas, and the upper atmospheres of the terrestrial planets in our solar system. He has also been an adjunct instructor at Palomar College, Southwestern College, and the University of California-San Diego.
